This ban was made because it was found out by the court, located in Texas that this Microsoft program violated a patent that is owned by a software company named i4i Ltd. This Toronto-based company complained that Microsoft breached the U.S. patent 5,787,449 , which is a “Method and System for Manipulating the Architecture and the Content of a Document Separately from Each Other.” In particular, this is about the manner the Word application manages XML or Extensive Markup Language format.

The court ordered Microsoft to pay $290 million to i4i Ltd. in damages. Word is the Microsoft’s best-selling products, so this ban will definitely hurt the company. As soon as the ban was issued, Microsoft filed a motion in the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Right at this moment Microsoft is already doing its best to fulfill the court’s ruling. There is still a way out for Microsoft. Revision of the XML format is all that’s needed to prevent the ban.

You decide that you are through with taking risks with your sensitive documents, so having contracted with a document shredding service to do the job for you Who Needs the Worry? Holy crap! You did this so you can sleep better at night! One of those documents has your social security and driver’s license number on it along with your full name and birthday and place of birth on it. The fact is that they are going to shred your documents and are actually perfectly honest but who needs the worry and besides, your ulcer is beginning to act up again.

For guys and gals like you there is one other option that takes paper shredding to a whole level. It’s called on site shredding and it is just what it sounds like. Document Shredding on sight shredding, no one goes anywhere with your intact documents, ever, and in fact you can stand there and personally watch them get shredded.

For high volume document shredding or shredding that absolutely positively must be done every time, more and more offices are using a document shredding service. The reasons are simple. It removes the burden from employees who often can’t be relied on to shred every time. Also, it eliminates having to maintain an in house office shredder which does have a tendency to break down once a year or so.

Sure, every DOCUMENT SHREDDING service gives you a number of written assurances that all of the documents that are gathered are shredded and processed into a giant pile of goop. However; wouldn’t you and your clients sleep just a little better at night knowing that every piece of paper that your office handles is turned into confetti while you or one of your employees stands and watches? Also, should one of your clients personal information fall into the wrong hands, wouldn’t it be nice to be able offer irrefutable proof that it wasn’t because of your handling of their discarded documents?
