AMD announced the latest addition to its Phenom line of processors. The Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition is now touted as the fastest among the rest. Well, it should be since it’s the newly developed one. According to AMD, this new processor is based on the 45nm Deneb core and has a new speed of up to 3.4GHz. The previous fastest by the company is the 3.2GHz 955 processor. AMD designed this new processor for its Dragon platform.
Other features of the new Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition processor include 8MB cache, Socket AM3, 2GHz Hyper Threading link, and DDR3 memory support. One of the most beneficial capability of this new processor is that it can help save power and reduce heat production by clocking down L3 cache portions that are not being used.
Consumers will be glad to know that the new Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition is priced $245, still very affordable compared to other processors, like Intel’s for instance.
